Carrie Underwood has just welcomed her second son, and just as she did with her firstborn, she gave him a formidable name straight out of the Bible.

Underwood and her husband, former Nashville Predators player Mike Fisher, welcomed their first child, Isaiah Michael Fisher, on Feb. 27, 2015.

According to Biography.com, Isaiah was a Hebrew prophet who was believed to have lived somewhere around 700 years B.C. Isaiah was said to have prophesied the coming of Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and he reportedly wrote chapters 1-39 in the Book of Isaiah in the Old Testament of the Bible. Michael, of course, is Mike Fisher's name. Put them together, and Underwood's firstborn son bears a name that reflects both family and the couple's shared Christian faith.

The couple welcomed their second son, Jacob Bryan Fisher, on Monday (Jan. 21) and announced the news online on Wednesday (Jan. 23). Jacob is another name with powerful Biblical connotations. According to the Old Testament, Jacob — later named Israel — was the father of the twelve founders of the twelve tribes of Israel. It's not certain if there is a family connection to Bryan in either Underwood or Fisher's family, but some sources indicate it's the singer's father's middle name — and was her paternal grandfather's name.

The couple make no secret of their Christian faith. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Fisher said it provided an "instant connection" when they first met.

"We both grew up in Christian families, and kinda experienced life, and all of a sudden it's fame," he reflected. "Spiritually we're kinda able to be on the same page and understood each other. And now, it's a big part of our marriage, for sure."

The couple also pray together regularly, and Underwood says they try to read some of the same materials at the same time so they can talk about it together.

"I love it when we can find things that ask us a question at the bottom of the page," she says. "Like, 'This is the thing to think about today, and how can you apply this to your own life, or what situations like this have you been in?"

They've definitely been raising Isaiah in their faith, too. In February of 2017, Underwood posted an adorable clip to Instagram in which she and Isaiah sang a duet of "Jesus Loves Me" in the car.

Underwood never hides her faith. She's scored Christian-themed hit songs on mainstream radio, including "Jesus, Take the Wheel" and more recently "Something in the Water." She doesn't worry that her bold articulation of faith will offend fans.

"Country music is different. You have that Bible Belt-ness about it," she said in 2012. "I'm not the first person to sing about God, Jesus, faith (or) any of that, and I won't be the last. And it won't be the last for me, either. If you don't like it, change the channel."
