The artists on the bill for the second day (June 16) of Country Jam 2017 in Grand Junction, Colo., weren't afraid to drop a cover (or two) into their sets.

From up-and-comer Sammy Arriaga all the way to headliner Jason Aldean, all five of Friday's acts included at least one cover in their shows. These were the five best.

Jason Aldean's "Midnight Rider"

CJ Berzin for Country Jam

Ever since Allman Brothers Band co-founder Gregg Allman's death in late May, Aldean has been playing the group's iconic "Midnight Rider" during his sets. The song was meant to be a one-time-only setlist addition — but, as Aldean told the Country Jam 2017 crowd, one night just didn't seem like quite enough.

Chris Young's "Sharp Dressed Man"

CJ Berzin

Perhaps the best part about Chris Young's cover of ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man" was that it wasn't just a cover of "Sharp Dressed Man;" rather, his bassist wove in the bass line from the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army," while his guitarist played a bit of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck."

Young also covered Keith Whitley's "When You Say Nothing at All" during his show.

Parmalee's "My House" / "Closer" Mashup

CJ Berzin

Parmalee brought the party during their afternoon set on Friday. The country quartet weaved together Flo Rida's "My House" and the Chainsmokers' "Closer;" they also threw a few lines of 50 Cent's "In Da Club" into their song "Musta Had a Good Time."

Cody Johnson's "Turn the Page"

Patrick Hughes

If you aren't familiar with Cody Johnson just yet, it's time to get to know him. Case in point: his stellar cover of Bob Seger's "Turn the Page." The song came late in Johnson's set; he kept the original's sparse, lonely feel while making it his own.

Sammy Arriaga's "Blue Ain't Your Color"

Keith Griner

Arriaga gave a nod to his Hispanic heritage during his Country Jam 2017 set by singing a few lines of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," and he covered "One Dance" by Drake — but his version of Keith Urban's "Blue Ain't Your Color" is what made us stop and take notice. To say his version of the waltz was stunning is an understatement.
