Gwen Stefani’s Not Pressuring Blake Shelton to Propose After Traumatic Divorces
Just about everyone wants Blake Shelton to propose to Gwen Stefani ... except for Gwen Stefani. The pop singer says there is "zero pressure" at home for her man to pop the question, partially because of what they've both been through.
"When there's trauma the way that we had trauma back in the day, like going through all these hard times you get to a place where you can find somebody that's like your best friend, that you know you can depend on and trust and go through life," Stefani tells Today's Natalie Morales on Wednesday morning (Dec. 12).
The 49-year-old added she hopes Shelton is her forever. She was previously married to singer Gavin Rossdale, but that relationship ended when he was caught cheating on her. Shelton was married to Miranda Lambert. Both marriages ended around the same time, and the two separated singers found comfort in one another's arms during tapings for The Voice.
Conversation about their relationship status has come up often during their three years together, with Ellen DeGeneres recently claiming they were already engaged, though Stefani insisted otherwise. The county-pop pair split time between homes in California and Oklahoma, depending on where the other is working. They will celebrate Christmas together, but what they're getting each other is not clear. It's been a struggle, the No Doubt singer admits.
Last month Stefani and Shelton released their music video for "You Make It Feel Like Christmas," found on her Christmas album. The playful music video finds her cheating on him with Santa Claus.
