It's always a good time when Luke Bryan stops by the Taste of Country Nights studio. This time, the "Kick The Dust Up" singer got real about retirement and what he'll consider his career milestone.

Bryan isn't anywhere near ready for retirement yet, but the singer has already accomplished a lot in his career. From ACM Entertainer of the Year wins to selling out massive stadiums, he's done so much. What he wants most out of his time in country isn't more awards, it's just happiness.

“My career milestone is just to look back and go, ‘God knows you enjoyed every chance you had on stage and you were always happy that you were doing this business'," he says. "I don’t ever wanna be one of those guys that, like I said, don’t go out to dinner because you’re worried about signing an autograph or engage somebody. I want to go run down the beach or go anywhere I want to, and if a fan recognizes me, give them an amazing moment that they’ll remember forever.”

He sure does love his fans, and lucky for them, he's not ready to call it quits anytime soon. In fact, he thinks he's always going to want to perform.

“I don’t know that I'll ever launch or announce a retirement at any point. I think you’ll see moments in my career where the amount of tours that I do fluctuate and the amount of dates on the road fluctuate. But I think I gotta always have that fix of going out and having some fun playing music, but I would hate to like launch some big year of retirement and tell everybody I’m doing that, then say I retire. Then once I retire I’m wishing I hadn’t sold a fake bill of goods to everybody. I think it’s better to just dial it back or speed it up as you like. Don’t get up there and back yourself up in a corner."

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
