After a painfully long wait for fans, Luke Bryan’s latest record Kill the Lights was finally available Aug. 7, downloading automatically into iTunes libraries around the world for those who took advantage of Bryan’s exclusive preorders. Those fans, along with the ones who rushed to their computers on release day, ensured that Kill the Lights debuted at No. 1 not only on the Billboard Country Albums chart, but also the Billboard Top 200 — an all-genre chart.

The record sold more than 320,000 copies, making it Bryan’s third consecutive album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and the third largest album debut of 2015 thus far. The leadoff single “Kick the Dust Up” hit No. 1, and its slow and sexy follow-up, “Strip it Down,” is on its way there, currently sitting at No. 13 on the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart.

Bryan had a packed schedule during release week, performing an exclusive iHeartRadio CD release show, the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series, the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, and more. He also debuted one of his more sentimental tunes, “To the Moon and Back” via Facebook’s new live-streaming platform and a video via the dating app Tinder.

In addition, the superstar tried out a unique promotion with Target called “Luke Box,” in which Bryan wrote personalized songs on the fly for fans and posted them on his Twitter page, including one for Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson.

Along with tourmates Thomas Rhett, Dustin Lynch and Florida Georgia Line, Bryan has been rocking cities around the country throughout the summer on his Kick the Dust Up tour, which continues through October.
