Luke Combs’ Acoustic ‘I Got Away With You’ Is Just Great Country Music [Watch]
Luke Combs is one of country music's trailblazers, and his sharp songwriting in the "I Got Away With You" lyrics are a big reason why.
Combs is clever as ever as he confesses that while he gets caught for stealing minor things — beer, cigarettes — he somehow got away with claiming the heart of the woman he loves. It's a new version of reality in which he manages to walk away with some of the world's most prized possessions, like the famed Mona Lisa. He even makes it out of Buckingham Palace with a crown of jewels, but he still hasn't been caught with the woman most precious to him.
The burgeoning superstar's acoustic version shows off his husky vocals as he details, "But here we are runnin' free / Guess someone turned the other cheek / 'Cause there ain't no blue lights in the rear view / Guess I got away with you."

He includes a reference to the song — specifically the line, "Now the Mona Lisa's hanging in my house" — in the video for his current single, "She Got the Best of Me," where a replica of the historic painting can be seen on a wall in his house.
"I Got Away With You" is featured on the original and deluxe editions of Combs' breakthrough album, This One's for You. He's set to headline arenas in 2019 on his Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour that crosses the U.S. January through May.
Combs has also scored two nominations at the 2018 CMA Awards for New Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year.
