Hear Luke Combs’ ‘Let’s Just Be Friends’ From New ‘Angry Birds’ Movie

Luke Combs is among a great list of hitmakers who signed up for the Angry Birds Movie 2 soundtrack. The country singer's "Let' Just Be Friends" was released on Friday (Aug. 2), two weeks ahead of the movie's release.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 officially drops on Aug. 14 ,and Combs isn't the only country star with connections. Keith Urban's daughters have voiceover roles in the animated film. Combs just sings, but he does it in his familiar, straight-forward manner.

"Let's just be friends / Ain't gotta fight about it / Let's find a way around it / Let's just be friends / Hey, what do you say" the "Beer Never Broke My Heart" sings calls out at the chorus. "If we don't even know what we were fussin' about / Don't you think it's time we work it out / Let's just be friends."

The song is a galloping, no-nonsense message of friendship. The movie features the cartoon Angry Birds teaming up with their pig enemies to save their homes.

Combs has been slow-rolling songs from his next album with full digital releases or performance videos. It's not clear when the follow-up to This One's for You will drop, but on Thursday (Aug. 1) he revealed that an announcement of some sort is coming on Aug. 8. Many believe he will reveal album news on that day.
