Lynyrd Skynyd Announce Final 2018 Dates for Farewell Tour
Lynyrd Skynyrd have announced a new string of dates for their Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour. The upcoming second leg of the tour will take the classic rock and Southern music pioneers through the end of 2018.
The Southern rock stalwarts announced their final tour in January, and it launched in May. The first leg is set to run through Sept. 1, wrapping in Atlanta at the Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood. The tour's second leg begins on Sept. 22 in Las Vegas and wraps in Biloxi, Miss., on Dec. 8. The tour is slated to extend into 2019, but those dates have not yet been announced.
Jason Aldean, Kid Rock, Hank Williams, Jr., Charlie Daniels Band, Bad Company, Marshall Tucker Band, 38 Special, Blackberry Smoke and Blackfoot are among the artists who will perform as special guests during the tour, which takes its name from Skynyrd's newest song, "The Last of the Street Survivors." That song was inspired by the band’s classic fifth studio album, Street Survivors.
Lynyrd Skynyrd have influenced rock music and several generations of country musicians over the decades with songs including "Free Bird," “Simple Man,” “Gimme Three Steps,” “What’s Your Name,” “Call Me the Breeze," "Sweet Home Alabama" and many more. Skynyrd has been touring consistently since the '90s, when the group reunited in a revamped lineup for the first time since the 1977 plane crash that killed singer Ronnie Van Zant and several other band members and passengers.
Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets beginning Tuesday, June 12, at 10AM local time and lasting until Thursday, June 14, at 10PM local time through Citi's Private Pass program.
