Miranda Lambert Says Carrie Underwood ‘Can Sing Me Under the Table’
Miranda Lambert is a faithful supporter of her fellow women in country music, and while she has blazed her own path in the genre, she'll never stop giving props to Carrie Underwood.
Backstage at the 2018 ACM Awards, Lambert praised Underwood's triumphant return to the stage (her live debut of "Cry Pretty" at the ACMs marked her official return to the public eye following a nasty fall last year). "It makes me proud to be a woman in this industry when I see her sing up there and do that," she said, acknowledging Underwood's talent (quote via Rolling Stone).
Lambert pocketed another Female Vocalist of the Year trophy on Sunday night (April 15) — it's an award she has won every year since 2010, and she typically highlights Underwood in her speeches.
"She's one of the greatest singers of all time in any genre of music and can sing me under the table," Lambert added. "I say that every time and I will continue to say that, but I'm just proud of her and I know how strong she is and how hard she's worked."

Underwood's television return was a standout moment at the 2018 ACM Awards — her peers gave her a half-minute standing ovation, and she left the stage emotional. Lambert had a big night, too, because in addition to Female Vocalist of the Year she won Song of the Year for the haunting "Tin Man." The two trophies catapulted her into ACM Awards history, making her the most decorated artist in the history of the show with a total of 30 wins.
"Thank you guys so much for sharing my broken heart with me," she said during her acceptance speech. Lambert also blew the crowd away with her performance of "Keeper of the Flame" off her critically acclaimed 2016 album The Weight of These Wings.
