Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town Join Forces on Bill Withers Classic ‘Lean on Me’ [Watch]
Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town kicked off their joint Bandwagon Tour on July 12 in North Carolina, and the opening night crowd was treated to several collaborations, including "Lean on Me."
Openers Tenille Townes, Steel Woods and Natalie Hemby joined the headliners for a lively cover of the Bill Withers classic.
The two-minute rendition had Little Big Town's Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet trading off on lead vocals, with their tourmates chiming in on the chorus. At one point, all of the artists sang arm-in-arm. The night closed on a triumphant note: Kimberly Schlapman blew kisses to the audience before the entire crew took a bow together.
Lambert and LBT performed at the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, N.C., on July 12 and in addition to each act playing a separate set, they teamed for a joint mini-set that featured Lambert on "Boondocks" and "Girl Crush," while Little Big Town provided harmonies to "Little Red Wagon" and "Tin Man."
Ahead of the tour, Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild hinted that fans could expect a collaboration when they joined Lambert on the road.
"Honest to God, there isn’t a song of hers that I wouldn’t want to sing. I remember hearing 'The House That Built Me' and having to pull my car over from tears. I feel that way about so much of her stuff. Nobody owns the stage like Miranda does, and she has those total kickass moments, and she just kills it," she told Rolling Stone Country.
Lambert and Little Big Town's Bandwagon Tour runs through August.
