Miranda Lambert got the chance to sing two duets with one of her own country heroes during a TV special on Friday night (May 15).

Lambert joined Patty Loveless during the filming of ACM Presents: Superstar Duets, which took place just before the 2015 Academy of Country Music Awards on April 17 and 18 at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. They performed Loveless' No. 1 hit from 1993, "Blame It On Your Heart," as well as "Dear Diamond."

The two-hour special focused on “pairings you’ve never seen before,” including Dwight Yoakam with Sam HuntKeith Urban with John Anderson and the Band Perry with Deana Carter, among others.

"'Blame It on Your Heart' was a Song of the Year in 1994," Loveless recalls. "And I just couldn't believe it ... I mean, having opportunity to do this together is awesome."

"I love that song," Lambert gushes. "And I feel like it kinda meshes our two styles together ... it sounds like it's perfect for right now. That's what's awesome about it."

"Dear Diamond" is a song Lambert wrote specifically with Loveless in mind.

"Patty and I became friends really in Switzerland," she recalls. "That's really when our love affair began ... we had a pretty huge party in our hotel suite after."

"I think we started in your, and then we went up to my room," Loveless says.

"I was requesting songs from Patty Loveless for like three hours," Lambert says with a laugh.

The pair blended perfectly for both performances, bridging the gap between two generations of country legends with their similar influences. Check out "Blame It on Your Heart" above, and "Dear Diamond" below.
