The CMA Awards have been known in recent years to routinely allow non-country artists to collaborate with country performers during their telecast, but it's rare that one of these gets their own moment solo on the stage. During the 51st annual CMA Awards, that privilege was granted to pop star Pink.

"We’ve had fun with her tonight, but we’re seriously honored she is here with us tonight, co-host Brad Paisley said, announcing her performance.

The flexible vocalist — who made her mark in country with her featured appearance on Kenny Chesney's "Setting the World on Fire," in 2016 — delivered a lovely rendition of her single "Barbies," from her latest album Beautiful Trauma. She was accompanied only by a ring of acoustic instruments, which set off the stark lyrics mourning the loss of youthful innocence to full effect.

Beautiful Trauma debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 last month, and had the country's biggest opening for a female artist since Beyonce's Lemonade.

The 2017 CMA Awards were aired live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena Nov. 8.
