‘The Voice': Andrew Sevener Takes on Luke Combs Tune
Monday night (May 6) was another brutal night on The Voice, with the Top 13 facing a cut in half yet again. This night had a bit of an interesting twist, as fans chose the songs for each contestant to deliver for America's votes.
Coach Blake Shelton had the edge—well, practically the whole dang thing—with a majority of his contestants in the round. One of these was Andrew Sevener, who put forth yet another in a string of solidly county performances with Luke Combs' "She Got the Best of Me."
As Sevener explained, his little Texas hometown was more than happy to help choose a song for tonight. "There's a little over 4,000 people in my hometown. The thing to do is play sports or drive around listening to music or go fishing. That was it," he explains. "My mom was telling me she hasn't seen the town come this alive since my sophomore year when we won the state championships."
Coach Shelton approved of the choice, noting, "Andrew fuses the southern rock sound like Travis Tritt. He does not back down from any song. He gives 100%."
After the performance, Shelton observed, "I think that's why you developed this huge fan base out there, because now we know what a great singer you are. We also get to see the guy who realizes every second that goes by... 'Holy crap, I made it on The Voice. That's why he reacts that way. He's having the time of his life. I appreciate that."
Join us tomorrow (May 7) to see if Sevener made the big cut.
