Growing up, 16-year-old Zach Seabaugh chose singing over football, and after his performance of Sam Hunt’s “Take Your Time” on Tuesday night (Sept. 22), he chose Blake Shelton over two other coaches on The Voice.

Seabaugh grew up in Marietta, Ga., an hour away from Hunt’s hometown. His approach to “Take Your Time” is more melodic and traditional. America’s Morning Show host Blair Garner described it as George Strait meets Sam Hunt, an interesting and accurate observation. That’s what you get from a teenaged Johnny Cash fan.

“My grandpa would turn on Johnny Cash,” Seabaugh says. “What 5-year-old knows who Johnny Cash is?”

With grandpa’s dog tags wrapped around his neck, Seabaugh sang the song, getting three judges to spin around. Adam Levine joked about his good looks, asking the teen if he was Superman. But once again it was Shelton who collected another country singer.

“You listen to country radio, it’s important to know what the pulse is of country music," the star told the young man. "That’s what I live for.”

It worked. Seabaugh is now one of five singers on Team Blake after just two nights of action. Barrett Baber, Blind Joe, Emily Ann Roberts and Nadjah Nicole are also a part of Team Blake. The NBC reality show returns on Monday Sept. 28.
