More 2016 CMA Awards Performers Added for 50th Anniversary Event
Even more 2016 CMA Awards performers have been announced, and the list is filling with the biggest stars and most-nominated singers, and country's most cherished legends. Carrie Underwood, Maren Morris, Eric Church will take the stage at the 50th annual CMA Awards. Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves will also perform.
Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley and Keith Urban were also among the first names announced, with Little Big Town, Tim McGraw, Florida Georgia Line and others added on Monday (Oct. 17). Typically the Country Music Association reveals performers and special honorees slowly. Fans didn't know Justin Timberlake would join Chris Stapleton in 2015 until just days before the event.
Additionally, the CMA has selected seven previous Entertainer of the Year winners to perform: Reba McEntire, Charley Pride, Vince Gill, George Strait, Alabama, Brooks & Dunn and Alan Jackson.
Legends Randy Travis and Charlie Daniels will both perform, as will former Entertainer of the Year winners Ricky Skaggs and Roy Clark. It will mark Travis' first awards show performance since his debilitating stroke in 2013.
Collaborations are the norm, but if that trend continues at the 2016 CMA Awards, it may mean fewer pop and rock artists and more heritage artists. Shane McAnally dishes that the show will focus on the history of country music, with artists performing classic songs with or in place of their current singles. During a press conference in Dallas, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood revealed they'd be doing a medley of classic duets together.
Below is a list of all CMA Awards performers announced so far. More will be added to this list as they're revealed. The 2016 CMA Awards begin at 8PM ET on Nov. 2 on ABC. Underwood and Paisley will host once again.
