Brett Young is one of country music's hottest up-and-coming young singers, and that's been validated with his nomination for New Artist of the Year in the 2017 CMA Awards. There's a great case to make for why Young deserves to win.

Young has seemingly come from out of nowhere over the course of the last year to become one of the most talked-about young artists in the genre, starting with the success of his debut single, "Sleep Without You." That song reached No. 2 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, and Young scored his first No. 1 hit with his second single, "In Case You Didn't Know," which has become one of the breakout country hits of 2017. His third single, "Like I Loved You," already sits inside the Top 40 not long after its release. Young's self-titled debut album has received glowing reviews, and it has already been certified gold by the RIAA for selling half a million units!

Young's success is no surprise to ToC readers. We chose him as one of our RISERS in 2017, and it was obvious he was a star when he performed "In Case You Didn’t Know" on the RISERS set and followed it with a stunning cover of "Hallelujah." He's up against tough competition from Luke Combs, Old Dominion, Jon Pardi and Lauren Alaina for New Artist of the Year in the 2017 CMA Awards, but Young has the talent, the charisma and the numbers to back up a win.

Young isn't one of those artists who sounds great on the radio, but can't pull it off live. The rising country star landed one of the prime touring slots of the year when Lady Antebellum chose him as a support act for their You Look Good Tour, and those dates, coupled with his radio success, have done so well that he's already announced dates for his first-ever headlining tour.

Whatever that indefinable quality some people have is that separates them from the pack and makes them into stars, Brett Young has it in spades. You don't even have to hear Young sing to understand his appeal; he's one of those performers with such charisma that it's apparent from the second you meet him. Add to that his exceptional voice and his songwriting talents, and he's got the entire package.

Now, if only he was better-looking ... Kidding.
