Carrie Underwood Is ‘Livid’ After Call Costs Predators a Win
The Nashville Predators lost to the Florida Panthers after a call of interference cost them a goal on Tuesday night (April 3), and Carrie Underwood was among the fans who turned to social media to express outrage.
The Preds lost to the Panthers after a last-second goal by a Predators player was overturned by a review. Underwood was one of a number of fans who turned to Twitter to express displeasure with the call, which kept the Predators from nailing down the Central Division or Western Conference.
"Goaltender interference? Are you out of your mind? On what planet? #WorstCallEver @PredsNHL #NSHvsFLA," Underwood wrote on Twitter.
A couple of minutes later, she added another tweet that left no doubt about her feelings.
"I am seriously livid. @NHL, fix this," Underwood added a few minutes later.
She was far from alone in her feelings about the call. A number of Preds fans turned to social media to protest the decision as one of the worst of the season, including the Predators' official account.
The Predators are set to visit the Metropolitan Division champion Washington Capitals on Thursday (April 5), and they'll host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday (April 7).
Underwood is married to Predators team captain Mike Fisher, and he wasn't about to disagree with her tweet.
The singer makes no secret of her intense loyalty to her hometown team. In 2017 she even joked that she would lose her online privileges after a particularly impassioned post about a game. She was one of a long list of country stars who turned in surprise renditions of the national anthem before Preds games during the Stanley Cup finals in 2017, and she hints that she's got something even bigger planned for 2018.
"Last year, I was so proud to be the Captain’s wife and loved being able to contribute to the excitement of the playoffs by coming out to perform the anthem at the first game," Underwood writes. "I had so much fun and wanted to continue to support the team by asking a few of my friends to get in on the action. Like all of the Preds fans, I’m thrilled that Mike is back on the ice and I love that we are able to bring the music and hockey worlds together this way."
