Katy Perry is no country artist, but she does have a knack for songwriting. That's why the pop icon penned -- and demoed -- a twangy track called 'Bullet' for country music hopeful Jessie James. The Katy Perry demo of the song recently leaked online.

Perhaps it's that we're just too used to hearing Perry shout it out on dance hits like 'Firework' and 'Teenage Dream,' or maybe it's that this song is far too cheesy, but somehow, it just doesn't scream country single of the year to us.

"Now mama warned me about boys like you, it's the reason I wear these steel-toed boots," Perry spits in the opening verse, adding in the chorus, "I'm a bullet, I'm headed straight for your heart / Be careful what you start."

Perhaps with a bit of the attitude of Miranda Lambert or 'Tough' songstress Kellie Pickler, 'Bullet' could regain its country status. It seems you can't go wrong with rugged country females with an extra kick, so maybe James and her pop friend are onto something. The version that James sings can be heard here.
