Kid Rock Opening New Honky-Tonk in Downtown Nashville
Kid Rock is the next in a long line of music stars including Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line and Blake Shelton bringing the party to Nashville’s famed Lower Broadway in the form of a brand new bar.
The venue, for which Kid Rock will partner with the owners of Nashville honky-tonk Tootsie’s, will be a four-story entertainment mecca and steakhouse that will focus more on rock music than country. The whole project is slated to cost around $20 million.
“When Steve [Smith] was talking about this, I was like, ‘Hmm, everybody’s doing it,’ and I don’t really want to do it unless I can bring something to the table besides money,” Richie told The Tennessean on Thursday (June 7) in an exclusive interview about the venue, which should take a month to complete. “If we can really do something creative and make it a little bit different than the other spots.”
These Well-Known Songs Were Not the Big Hits We Thought They Were
This is not Kid Rock’s first jump into the bar and restaurant industry; the music star also has his Kid Rock’s Made in Detroit venue back in his hometown in Michigan.
“Having something successful in Detroit was a big relief for me because obviously if I can’t do it in Detroit, I’m not going to be able to do it anywhere else,” said Richie, who will be heading out on tour with Brantley Gilbert and Wheeler Walker, Jr. on Aug. 3. “I’m scared to put my name on anything because my name is on it. If I put my stamp on it and have a vision for it and it’s something that’s detrimental, it’s not worth the money or risk. At this point, I don’t need to take risks. I want to do things that are fun and with good people.”
