Yodeling Walmart Boy Mason Ramsey Hits No. 1 on iTunes
Mason Ramsey's debut single is proving to be aptly titled. The 11-year-old viral country sensation has reached No. 1 on the iTunes country chart with "Famous."
Ramsey shared the news of his achievement via Twitter on Monday (April 30), writing, "My song 'Famous' is now the #1 country song on iTunes. I guess Mondays aren’t so bad after all." He included a screenshot of the chart that showed "Famous" placing higher than current singles from Kane Brown, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney and Luke Bryan:
The young country singer shot to instant fame after clips of him yodeling at Walmart went viral. His charm and resemblance to a very young Hank Williams won him a spot playing at Coachella, and he's also appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. Ramsey capped that off by joining Florida Georgia Line onstage at the Stagecoach Festival over the weekend to sing "Famous."
Not bad for a kid who first came to attention by yodeling in a Walmart in Paducah, Ky.
"28 days ago I was yodeling inside my local Walmart to 11 people. This past weekend I performed in front of 100,000 people at Stagecoach," he tweeted on Monday. "It’s amazing what can happen in just a month."
