Miranda Lambert and Justin Moore Not Amused by Ashton Kutcher’s Apparent Jab at Country Music
If there's one country gal who's not going to stand quietly while someone makes fun of her or her people, it's Miranda Lambert. The sassy sweetheart didn't seem to think Ashton Kutcher's little "performance," nor his over-the-top country getup at Sunday night's ACM Awards was too cute.
Before presenting Lambert with the highly coveted Female Vocalist of the Year award, Kutcher came onstage wearing a black cowboy hat, an exaggerated red blazer and black pants. To top off the act, the actor even sang a bit of George Strait's 'I Cross My Heart' before presenting Lambert with the award, which seemed to delight the audience at the time.
Hitting Twitter Monday night (April 2), Lambert and Justin Moore both offered up their thoughts on the whole charade. The 'Over You' songstress, who's never afraid to call it like she sees it, tweeted "Was Ashton Kutcher making fun of country or is it just me? Watching it back now and I'm kinda wondering?" Moore was even more open about his disapproval, offering a straight shot at the 34-year-old actor.
"Seen Ashton kutcher at the acms tonight. What a dou--e! I don't care for people making a mockery of the way country artists' dress," Moore said via Twitter. According to Us Weekly, Kutcher continued to raise hackles as he sported the ironic costume at the after party, after which one source told the publication the actor's demeanor was frustrating overall.
"People were just like 'why is he here?' -- he has nothing to do with country. Nobody laughed at his dumb jokes, in fact he came off as rude," the source reports. "He didn't mingle." Another party patron shared that the 'Two and a Half Men' star came to the party "with a massive posse" and "stayed in that dumb outfit for the after party."
While Kutcher may have been going through the whole act to get a laugh or to point out just how un-country he truly is, he may have taken it a step too far and slightly overstated his point. Or at least some country stars seem to think so.
On Tuesday, Kutcher reached out to Lambert directly via his own Twitter page, telling her, "I Am One Of The biggest country Music fans you've ever met. Wasn't making fun at all." He added, "btw congratulations again."
