Miranda Lambert Says Working With Keith Urban Left Her ‘In Awe’
Miranda Lambert is sassy, fierce and not afraid to speak her mind. But working with superstar Keith Urban -- even now -- rendered her a little bit awestruck.
"The first tour I ever did was Keith's, and I was in awe," she tells CMT, recalling her opening slot during his Alive in '05 Tour. "As a new artist, I learned so much watching him every night onstage..."
Lambert recently had the chance to work with Urban again -- this time, in the studio, recording his newest single, 'We Were Us.' The catchy and upbeat song highlights both singers, and the songstress couldn't have enjoyed it more. "Being in the studio and working with Keith on the 'We Were Us' duet was an awesome experience ... To see how he takes that same passion and artistry into the studio was really cool," she explains.
Although Urban didn't write 'We Were Us,' (it was penned by Jimmy Robbins, Nicolle Galyon and Jon Nite), once he heard it, he knew who he wanted to duet with.
"Miranda, of course," he said in a recent radio interview.
"She opened for us a lot of years ago. She is just the real deal," he spills. "I just love her. I love her artistry. Her voice is awesome. She would get up and play with us when we were touring with her, and I just felt like our voices went together really well ... I was hoping I could find a song for us one day."
The two artists seem to have a mutual respect for each other, both being a little bit in awe of the other's talent. Hopefully this means there will be more Urban-Lambert duets in the future!
