Taste of Style – Country Stars Shine at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards
The 2014 Billboard Music Awards provided a chance for country’s biggest to impress on the red carpet, and stars like Carrie Underwood, Lucy Hale and Luke Bryan didn’t disappoint. Bryan looked ready for summer, while Underwood and Hale showed off some serious ring bling. None of these three were this week’s ultimate fashion diva however.
Sure, you may think denim, cowboy boots and stiff black hats when you think country fashion. But when it comes down to it, the hottest stars can don classic suits and elegant gowns with the best of their pop counterparts.
‘I’m not very fashion-forward, I’m a jeans an t-shirt kind of girl,’ says this week’s Fashion Diva, admitting she has help for awards shows. ‘She hands me something pretty and if it fits I’ll wear it.’
Underwood reminded the world why hockey player Mike Fisher is such a lucky man with not one -- but three! wardrobe changes. Hale left everyone staring at her fingers, and not just because she’s rumored to be dating fellow country hottie Joel Crouse. Bryan brought his most delicious accessory -- his beautiful blonde wife. They all looked smokin' hot at the MGM Grand in Sin City on May 18, but there was only one country fashion diva. She was wearing … ‘Something Bad.’
Carrie Underwood
Can we talk about Carrie Underwood? Mrs. Fisher took everyone's breath away when she arrived in a vibrant chartreuse gown that flowed like melted wax as she walked. The sleeveless gown included intricate embroidery designed to accentuate some of her (ahem) best assets. Let's just say it ... cleavage is the new black.
The Oriett Domenech dress was paired with a matching Rodo clutch that completed a delicately polished look. But Underwood kept her top half as the focal point with long, simple, draping earrings. OK guys, time to quit staring. We're moving on.
Lucy Hale
Lucy Hale went with a simpler Alex Perry dress at the BBMAs (pronounced Ba-Ba-Ma's). The slim-fitting black, yellow and pink number was a safe choice, but her blingin' rings provided some edge. The 24-year-old double threat let her fingers be the center of attention with rings from EF Collection and Effy Jewelry. Snakes are usually forbidden in Las Vegas (unless you're Britney Spears) but she wore the best kind on her left ring finger -- a diamond one by EFFY Jewelry.
Also, check out the uniquely shaped EF Collection V Diamond Ring on the same hand. Is there really such a thing as too much bling?
Luke and Caroline Bryan
The sexy Luke Bryan strutted the red carpet with his even sexier wife Caroline. They were by far the hottest couple to walk the carpet at this year's Ba-Ba-Mas.
The 'Play it Again' singer looked classically sexy in a Dolce & Gabbana suit. He left his signature ballcap at home and instead accessorized with a Piaget watch and Tom Ford shades. Caroline stunned in a short, colorful Naeem Khan dress that accentuated her long, lean legs. Working up from her shoes you'll find her dress also matches her sapphire eyes. Just don't work your way back down, because that's a little pervy.
Carrie Underwood, Again!
Sister Underwood also wowed after the show, this time sporting gold accents to match her gold trophy. She chose a black polka dot halter gown from designer Jill Stuart, and this one showed glimpses of her other best assets, her legs. The 'Blown Away' singer wore black Giuseppe Zanotti heels that were accentuated with a gold reptile of some sort. Alligator, crocodile, lizard? Where's Jack Hanna when you need him?
Her best accessory? The yellow diamond ring by Jonathon Arndt. That's the bobble husband Mike Fisher gave her when he asked for her to spend a lifetime with him. And in case you missed it, she said "Yes." And Joey came back for Rachel. And Bruce Wills' character was really dead the whole time.
This Week's Fashion Diva - Miranda Lambert!
To say Miranda Lambert wowed on the red carpet is an understatement. She looked smokin' hot in a short, tight Georges Hobeika neon pink dress. The sleeveless dress accented Lambert's toned arms (move over Michelle Obama). And of course, who could forget the dress' plunging sheer panel that drew attention to the country singer's cleavage?
Add some light, shimmery makeup and an accessory that reminds men she's taken and you have the perfect mix of country-goes-Hollywood. Or Vegas, or wherever the heck the Ba-Ba-Mas where this year. We give Lambert a 10 out of 10.
