Alan Jackson, George Strait Take Us Down Memory Lane at 2016 CMA Awards
Multi-time CMA Entertainer of the Year nominees and country music kings Alan Jackson and George Strait came together for a performance of just two of their many hits, Jackson's "Remember When" and "Troubadour" by Strait, at the 2016 CMA Awards.
Jakson kicked the amazing performance off with a sweet rendition of his classic hit. Dressed to the nines in all black suit, with just a touch of glitter and a white cowboy hat, Jackson sang the lovely song as clips of past CMA Entertainer of the Year Award winners played in the background.
Just some of the stars featured in video the included the legendary George Jones, who said the honor "made my whole life," and Johnny Cash, who told aspiring young singers to "do it your way," a message he lived and breathed throughout his career.
Strait then joined Jackson on stage for a performance of his own 2009 hit, "Troubadour." Throughout the medley, the entire CMA audience was on its feet. Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum was swaying and singing along to the song with eyes closed, while Cole Swindell was also singing the timeless lyrics, and Matthew McConaughey draped his arm lovingly around wife Camila Alves as they enjoyed the song. The superstars received a well-deserved standing ovation.
Strait and Jackson have been named CMA Entertainer of the Year three times each.
