Blake Shelton predicted this was going to happen, and he was absolutely right. In a press conference, Brad Paisley confirmed that he and Carrie Underwood will joke about Shelton's divorce from Miranda Lambert during the 2015 CMA Awards.

During a recent appearance on Late Night With Seth Myers, Shelton acknowledged that it's practically inevitable the subject will come up during the monologue portion of the show, which always takes the opportunity to lampoon current events.

“Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn’t look down there and go ‘Ha ha!'" Shelton says, adding, “We’ve had the conversations like, ‘Okay, dude. I’ll sit there and let you kick me in the face a few times.’ I know it’s coming.”

Paisley says Shelton has been remarkably easygoing about the matter.

“I will say it’s very admirable that Blake went on Seth Myers and said, ‘Bring it!’ So we will!" Paisley tells ABC News Radio. "He and I have had a few little conversations here and there. He’s not someone who’s concerned at all quite honestly. It’s really refreshing."

Still, he says it's important not to go too far.

“It’s kind of an exercise in empathy, which I lack,” Paisley cracks. “It is an exercise in sort of putting yourself in that person’s position … and then you weigh the pros and cons of how funny it is versus how damaging it could be, and we never want to damage anybody’s reputation or make them feel awkward, but at the same time we don’t want to avoid things that are good humor.”

We'll find out how Paisley walks that line when he and Underwood host the CMA Awards live from Nashville on Wednesday night (Nov. 4). Shelton and Paisley are also set to headline two different nights at Country Jam 2016, which is set to take place June 16-19, 2016 in Grand Junction, Colo.
