Carrie Underwood Returning to Opry Goes Pink Event to Aid Fight Against Cancer
Carrie Underwood will continue the fight against breast cancer by participating in the tenth-annual Opry Goes Pink celebration next month.
The "Cry Pretty" singer will make a two-show appearance at the Grand Ole Opry on Oct. 26 and will be responsible flipping the switch on the venue's barn backdrop, turning it pink for the evening. Underwood was the first-ever artist to flip the switch in 2009, the event's inaugural year.
Drama? Carrie Underwood Loves It
For 10 years, the Opry has partnered with some of country music's biggest acts to provide money and awareness to those suffering from breast cancer. In 2017, Kelsea Ballerini and Trisha Yearwood took part in the cause. Jason Aldean has also shared his support, helping the Opry turn pink in 2016 as part of his annual “Concert for the Cure” event, which benefits the Susan G. Komen Foundation. His involvement over the years has helped raise more than 3.3 million dollars for the fight against breast cancer.
Tickets are currently available for Underwood's two concerts, as well as a special Cry Pretty Opry Goes Pink package featuring Opry Goes Pink tickets, Underwood’s Cry Pretty album, and a collectible print. When fans order the package or tickets to the shows, $5 from each package and ticket will be donated to the fight against breast cancer.
Underwood is set to release her sixth studio album, Cry Pretty, on Sept. 14. Her new single, "Love Wins," provides a voice of reason in turbulent times.
"We weren't trying to speak negatively about our world, because we live in an amazing world, but I feel like we get really caught up in surface things and I feel like in this world, we're quick to get angry at each other," she said recently. "I personally think that we're all different for a reason. I feel like if you just sit down and talk to somebody who's not like you and keep it calm, we can all learn from each other."
"Love Wins" is the second single from Underwood's new album, Cry Pretty. The project's title track and lead single recently peaked inside the Top 10.
