Here’s Our First Look at Carrie Underwood’s New ‘Sunday Night Football’ Opening
Summer has just arrived, but Carrie Underwood is hard at work on her fall plans. She'll be the first thing we see when Sunday Night Football returns for a new season, and from what we can tell, that's a great thing.
SNF executive producer Fred Gaudelli shared a picture of Underwood on the set of the 2018 opening on Wednesday (June 20).
"Shooting the 2018 Sunday Night Football open with Carrie Underwood,” he writes alongside a picture of a leather-clad, leg-baring Underwood leading a pack of backup dancers.

2018 will mark the sixth year of Underwood in the SNF opening, singing the show's theme. Not much information has been released about this year's opening number, but Gaudelli has always said that they try to push it further with each passing year.
"It’s challenging, because we’ve been doing these since 2006," he remarked in a 2016 press release. "You have to try to find new ways to tell a very similar story."
This is just a piece of a scheduling puzzle for Underwood, who will release a new album called Cry Pretty on September 14. It's the first that the Oklahoma native has co-produced and her first studio album for Capital Records Nashville. This weekend, Underwood will perform her song "The Champion" with Ludacris on the Radio Disney Awards and accept the Hero Award. The show airs Saturday night on the Disney channel.
