*Update: Carrie Underwood has made her big announcement! See what she has planned here

Carrie Underwood is expected to make a big announcement Friday (Sept. 26) on 'The Today Show,' but it will likely have less to do with babies, and more to do with music.

A Facebook post on Underwood's page confirms that she'll reveal the news on the morning show. Of course, many fans are hoping she'll announce a new album or single -- after all, in July, the singer said she's been writing a lot and that it feels good. Underwood opened up about a "new sound," saying, “It’s just a progression, a different sound without losing myself in it. I’m not taking some crazy musical departure from what I’ve done, but it definitely feels different. It will feel different, look different, sound different.”

While an announcement of new music seems highly possible, there's another (much smaller) possibility: Underwood as the 2015 Super Bowl halftime performer. In August, many signs pointed to the country star, and although it's unlikely (reports state Rihanna, Katy Perry and Coldplay are the top picks), it's still in the realm of 'maybe.'

We do know that part of Underwood's appearance on 'The Today Show' will be in discussion of the Global Citizen Festival, which she's co-headlining with pop stars Jay-Z, No Doubt, fun. and Tiesto, as well as hip-hop band the Roots. The festival is set to broadcast at 9PM Saturday (Sept. 27).

Stay tuned to find out exactly what the 'Blown Away' hitmaker is up to ... whatever it is, it's sure to be somethin' good!
