Jerrod Niemann may be slowing things down for a couple of weeks following the holidays. But come mid-January, he will pick things right back up as he hits the road with Miranda Lambert on the 2012 On Fire Tour.

The new trek is something Niemann is very much looking forward to. Besides seeing Lambert's show each night and being introduced to her fanbase, he is looking forward to getting to know his labelmate and Blake Shelton's wife a little bit better.

"She would come out a lot on the road with Blake when we were out on Brad Paisley's tour together," Niemann tells Taste of Country. "So I really got to know her out there with Blake. It’s pretty cool that she was kind enough to extend the offer for us to go out with her. If Blake would have talked about our sitting on the bus, running our mouths at each other, she probably would have said, ‘I don’t need any more of that!’ [laughs]"

The On Fire Tour kicks off on January 12 in Rockford, Ill. and will run through the first quarter of the new year. Lambert and Niemann's fellow Sony Music Nashville artist, Chris Young, will also be part of the new tour.

While Niemann anticipates releasing a new single from his next album sometime in the spring of 2012, he hopes that at some point next year he will have the opportunity to headline some of his own dates to give fans the full Jerrod Niemann experience.

"I’m not saying we won’t do another [big] tour, but because this album is so conceptual, you really need your whole time to play it all because it’s not one of those things where you can go play 30 minutes before somebody and pull it off," explains Niemann. "This album is all about the music -- not that anybody’s isn’t -- but you know it’s the whole album with the instrumentation that’s the concept, so it’s a little different. I dig it."
