Fans held their breaths when the nominees for Album of the Year were read at Sunday's (April 7) ACM Awards. When Kacey Musgraves' name was announced as the winner for her acclaimed Golden Hour album, the cheering in MGM's awards room was even louder than typical.

That's because she beat out the boys of country music, and because she deserved it. Fellow AOTY nominees included Dan + Shay, Chris Stapleton, Eric Church and Dierks Bentley.

"Oh my gosh, thank you so much," Musgraves told the crowd as she grasped the award in her hand. "Man, making this album alongside my two friends ... it's been some of the greatest memories of my entire life. I truly, truly appreciate this. And the chance to share my perspective. Thank you to everyone out there still supporting and buying records. It means everything to me. Thank you to the academy, thanks to my whole team, my little sister is here, she designs all my album cover, thank you, Kelly. To my fans, my crew, thanks so much. I love you guys. Thank you, thank you."

Kacey Musgraves Talks About 'Golden Hour'

Musgraves accepted the award in a stunning ombre pant suit, which was picked especially for this award show.

“I saw it and immediately was like, ‘This has my name written all over it,'" she told People magazine on the red carpet before the awards began. "It even kind of reminds me of the album cover a little bit. A nod to the fan on the album cover, just all the pleats. I love a gradient, I love anything ombré and anything rainbow, clearly."

Musgraves also won all-genre of the year at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
