Though she’s on Team Adam, Shelby Brown remains one of the strongest country artists on The Voice. The young singer chose to take on an edgy tune by Jamey Johnson this week — "In Color" from the 2008 record That Lonesome Song.

Brown came to rehearsals a little hesitant, working with coach Adam Levine to “get out of her head” and sing freely. After spending time with her mentor, Brown was ready to belt a few notes and earn her right to move on to the next round of competition.

The artist took the stage with a newfound level of confidence, singing with honesty and passion. Her vocals soared, and even though she made a couple of mistakes in the timing, she made up for it with impressive notes that blew the coaches away. A few soft lines at the end wrapped up the performance beautifully.

“You’re such a powerful singer,” Blake Shelton said afterward.

Levine commended his team member for making up for her flub with an even better moment.

“It’s not about mistakes,” he said. “You’re gonna make mistakes. I don’t care about mistakes. You made a baby tiny one, and then recovered with probably your best note on the show."
