Before Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry became the Band Perry, they wrote songs at their east Tennessee home. 'If I Die Young' was the first song they penned for their self-titled debut album, and it really hit home for fans.

At least one fan wrote to the band that she had been contemplating suicide, but told them that their single changed her mind. Landing at No. 83 on the Top 100 Country Songs list, 'If I Die Young' peaked at the top of the Hot Country Songs chart and also made waves on the Hot 100 when it was remixed for pop radio.
