The trailer for the Season 1 finale of Dutton Ranch looks very violent. Rip, Beth, Carter and Everett all take up arms against a group of masked intruders.

These aren't mystery men, and clues dropped elsewhere reveal who the winners and losers are. The real question fans have heading into Episode 9 is if the show can possibly tie up every loose end.

  • Episode 9 of Dutton Ranch begins streaming on Paramount+ this Friday (July 3).
  • Last week's Episode 8 revealed Beulah's fate after a health scare and teased the return of Joaquin's father.
  • Season 2 of Dutton Ranch was confirmed last week.

A cliffhanger seems likely. We know for sure that new characters will be introduced this week, and they'll change the landscape for the Duttons and Jacksons.

Find a full breakdown below. The Dutton Rules podcast team will break down last week's Ep. 8 and preview the violence to come during this week's live episode (2PM CT on June 30).

Dutton Ranch, Season 1 Finale Preview

Here are just a few of the questions Dutton Ranch fans have leading into Episode 9, "El Padrino":

  1. How will Beth and Rip respond to news of Beulah's illegal cattle operation?
  2. How will Joaquin's father upset the balance?
  3. Will Oreana have to choose between Carter and her father?
  4. Can Beulah and Everett really be together?
  5. Who's going to die?

Someone almost always dies during a Yellowstone franchise finale, and often it's a home team casualty. Could Season 1 end with Carter fighting for his life?

Maybe Oreana's heart will harden after her boyfriend's fraternal guardian Rip has to kill her father, Rob Will.

Could something happen to Everett?

Episode 8 was a setup episode with very little action until an end sequence that found 10 Petal Ranch hand Austin snitching on the Jacksons and their illegal cattle operation. At about the same time, Joaquin — frustrated by Sheriff Wade's unwillingness to investigate Rob Will for a murder — calls his father for help.

If you've followed these recaps or listened to the Dutton Rules podcast you know his father is Mariano, the young man who rescues young Beulah after she's raped in Ep. 7, and the voice on the phone in Ep. 3. He could very well be the leader of the cartel as the title of this episode ("El Padrino") translates to the Godfather.

Dutton Ranch Episode 9 Trailer

Two parts stand out from the Ep. 9 trailer for Dutton Ranch. The first is a previously unseen man telling Beulah to send her strangers (Beth and Rip) packing, or he will. That is almost certainly Mariano (the actor is Raoul Max Trujillo). The threat is obvious: he's going to kill them if Beulah doesn't fire them.

The second line of dialogue is Rip telling Beth "they" want us and her responding with, "Then they're gonna get us."

A group of masked men can be seen approaching their home and elsewhere Beth, Rip and Everett are picking up weapons. An earlier clip shared on Dutton Ranch socials found Rip, Azul and Zachariah adding bodies to the mineshaft / new train station, so it's safe to bet on Team Dutton.

Where is Carter in all of this? And why is Oreana screaming? Actually, we've got a pretty good idea why Oreana is screaming.

Rob Will is a great villain but the best villains always die at the end of a Yellowstone franchise series. See the Beck Brothers, Garrett Randall, Sarah Atwood etc ...

Beulah Jackson's daughter may have just witnessed her father's murder, but the killer is unknown. The Cattle Cartel and Rip are good suspects. The answer to this question will shape how Season 2 goes for the Duttons and Jacksons.
