When Dustin Lynch had his first co-write with Tim Nichols and Josh Leo, he had no idea the day would result in 'Cowboys and Angels' lyrics -- ultimately his new single. The stars lined up that day, and a hit was born.

"I wrote this song two years ago," Lynch tells Taste of Country. "It was a crazy day. I walked into a co-write with Tim Nichols and Josh Leo, and I had never met the guys before. I had that idea, 'Cowboys and Angels.' Tim had the same idea written down on a piece of paper. It was a freak accident. We were like, 'Whoa! Apparently we need to write this one today.'"

"We ride side by side / A cloud of dust, a ray of light / My touch is her temptation / Her kiss is my salvation / She's sweet, I'm wild, we're dangerous / Cowboys and angels," they wrote in the song's chorus.

"The deeper we got into the lyrics, I knew it was a real special song," notes Lynch. "It has changed my life for sure."

"I'm not sure why her path crossed mine / Accident or grand design / Maybe God just kinda likes /
Cowboys and angels," they continued in the 'Cowboys and Angels' lyrics.

"Six hours later we had this song that has truly changed my life," Lynch tells us, beaming. "Now it's my first Top 20 hit as a songwriter and an artist."
