Lady Antebellum took the ice at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Saturday evening (May 5) to sing the national anthem before the Nashville Predators played in Game 5 of their 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs series.

Charles Kelley began the song by himself in a strong, clear voice. His bandmates, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood, joined him later in the first verse, and they delivered most of the rest of the piece in three-part harmony with the exception of a few brief phrases Scott took solo for emphasis. Scott took the lead briefly when Kelley faltered going into the second verse, but the award-winning trio recovered to receive wildly enthusiastic applause, though some Twitter users took them to task.

The embarrassed stars apologized immediately after their performance via Twitter.

The Predators squared off with the Winnipeg Jets in a Nashville home game in Game 5 of the series, which so far finds the teams tied 2-2.

Taking their lead from last year's amazing winning season for the Preds, some of country music's biggest stars have hit the ice at the Bridgestone to perform the anthem before home games during the 2018 playoffs. Rascal Flatts, Maren MorrisBrad Paisley and Carrie Underwood have all done the honors, and Dierks Bentley and Del McCoury teamed up for a special rendition.

Underwood is married to Preds player Mike Fisher, and she was one of the singers who took the ice to perform surprise versions of the national anthem before Predators playoff games in 2017, along with Lady AntebellumVince Gill and his daughters, Little Big TownKeith Urban and more top stars.
