Five years ago, you likely had not heard of half the artists in the Top 10 of this month's Top 40 country songs list. While there are hitmakers like Florida Georgia Line, Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean and Chris Young, newcomers are making some of the most exciting music.

Newbie Riley Green ranks high on this October 2018 list of the best songs in country music. Carly Pearce, Mitchell Tenpenny and Kane Brown also do well, but it is a true country music headliner who's at No. 1 once again. We'd have to get our stats team on this, but this act may have the most weeks ever at the No. 1 spot on the monthly Taste of Country Top 40.

Fall is the time for new releases, so you'll find new songs from Eric Church, Pistol Annies and Brett Young. Scroll through, find your song and then tell us where we got it wrong in the comments section or on Twitter. Yep, you can come at us at @TasteofCountry if you'd like. We can take it.

The list of Top 40 Country Songs of October 2018 is compiled from Billboard chart data and sales figures, in addition to staff opinion and reader feedback.
