Two weeks at No. 1 didn't land one country singer the top spot on the Taste of Country Top 40 chart for December 2018. Jimmie Allen's "Best Shot" continues to get strong airplay, but a consideration of many metrics pushed a few songs past him this month.

That also meant a repeat No. 1 song this month, but fast-moving hits by Dierks Bentley, Mitchell Tenpenny and Eric Church promise to make it difficult for this country duo to three-peat.

The 2018 CMA Awards caused some sales numbers to spike, but things had mostly settled down in time to create this monthly list of country music's hottest songs on the radio and streaming platforms. Can you find yours? Scotty McCreery, Kane Brown and Jake Owen all have songs rising in December. Let us know where we got it right and wrong in the comments section and then click to listen to any song you like.
